Our Purpose

Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) is a charity that uses the power of music to engage, inspire, educate & empower young people to make their lives remarkable.

Many young people at MMAD suffer emotionally and socially from traumatic childhood experiences. For them, expressing their pain in lyrics, finding their voice in singing and escaping the world through music has helped them survive.

Through music, MMAD is able to reach the unreachable, break down social barriers, build self-worth, heal emotional trauma, and transform negative experiences into opportunities to make a difference.

Our Purpose:
To inspire young people, especially traumatised and at risk youth, to make positive choices so that they can find their place in the world

Our Belief:
Every young person deserves to have someone who believes them and the opportunity live their full potential.

MMAD’s key initiatives, 351 Camp (3 Days, 5 Elements, 1 Shot), Catch A Falling STAR (Special, Traumatised & At Risk) Metoring Program, and Street Dreams Workshops, have been developed since 2003. Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) was officially registered as a charity in 2008. Within this time, MMAD has grown from a small community venture reaching approximately 100 young people annually, to an organisation with a reach this year, across all programs, of over 50,000 people Australia wide.

Involvement from well known & up and coming Australian musicians, supporters, and the dedication of MMAD's talented and passionate team of youth workers, counsellors and professional facilitators, has allowed us to provide hope, resources and avenues for positive change in some of the most isolated and troubled, but beautiful, parts of Australia.

The Call and Response of MMADness

MMAD’s dedicated and talented team is called to make a difference in the lives of young people, through music, dance and the creative arts. Over ten years, we’ve witnessed incredibly moving responses to our calling. Not only have young people made significant changes in their own lives with the support of MMAD, but they have been so inspired that they go on to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people around them.

We have unconditional belief in the potential of all young people because we've learnt of their undeniable worth and ability. Engaged, built up, and provided with purpose through our programs, young people are overcoming unimaginable adversity to do such great and creative things to better their world. To MMAD, this is real music, and it resonates through our organisation, keeping us in tune with our reality and our dreams.

Like buskers on the street, our MMAD team takes our hat off to these brave young people. Bighearted supporters, moved by the "music" amplified at MMAD, proudly flick in their investment of change to make their own unique difference.

We cannot even begin to explain the impact that we can together make in the lives of young people, nor can we put into plain words the positive movement we are together creating with our partners, ambassadors and active supporters. We invite you to learn more about the work of MMAD by seeing the success of our programs, and the stories of the young people we are able to connect with through music, mentoring and our crazy little spark.

Band together with us in our purpose of changing lives through music. Contribute to the call and response of MMADness. It will probably be the most challenging, yet rewarding, life performance you will ever stage!
