Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) is a unique grassroots charity that exists to change young lives through the power of music and mentoring. Established in 2000 and based in Sydney whilst providing a national reach, the charity encourages and establishes an environment of support and a sense of family for vulnerable young people and offers a creative safe-haven where they are empowered to use their own unique talents to make a difference in their lives and within the wider community. Their aim is to help young people break negative cycles, feel a sense of self-worth and make positive choices so they can find their place in the world.
This year, the ideas and talents of ten young people whose lives had been transformed through MMAD came together to create #MMAD4U Day, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness for MMAD and its amazing work.
‘#MMAD4U’ will be launched on Monday November 23 2015 with the support of the music industry, media and artists including 5 Seconds of Summer, Tuka (Thundamentals), Troye Sivan, Birds of Tokyo, KLP, Justice Crew, the Potbelleez to name a few.
“Crimes were natural to me, still battling addiction. Been to rehab and mental institutions. I’m not a quitter though, I still have fight in me, with the help of good friends, family MMAD family and music, I rise up” – MMAD Rising Star
“I want to be remembered for the brave person I can be. So instead of following all these pointless roads, I am going to create my own, so people like me can walk along this road…the right one, and I’ll be their side every step of the way making sure they don’t fall” – MMAD Rising Star
