About MMAD

Many young people at MMAD suffer mentally, physically, socially & financially from traumatic experiences. For them, expressing their pain in lyrics, finding their voice by singing & escaping the world through music has helped them survive.

MMAD has spent more than 25 years changing lives through its work with children and young people experiencing hardship and disadvantage. The passion, dedication and talent of our incredible team have grown MMAD from a grassroots volunteer project into a national organisation, directly impacting more than 17,000 young people annually through frontline programs, with a further 100,000 reached through our wider initiatives.

We deliver creative support in communities, in custody and online, engaging, inspiring, educating and empowering young people through the power of music and mentoring. Young people are at the heart of everything we do, shaping the ideas, creativity and innovation that drive our work and impact.

Our initiatives span in-custody creative rehabilitation, creative street outreach, creative casework and industry leadership, underpinned by a free national creative support platform connecting young people with creative opportunities, guidance and support wherever they are.

The backing of some of the world’s biggest musicians, alongside long-standing local and global partners, enables MMAD to bring hope, support and pathways for positive change to young people in some of Australia’s most challenging, yet vibrant and resilient, communities.

As we grow, our values protect the grassroots culture, heart and excellence that define MMAD. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, and that meaningful, lasting change happens when people come together around a young person.

We are proud to work alongside other charities, educational institutions, groups and industry partners to give young people the best possible chance to overcome adversity, discover new possibilities, pursue their dreams and find their place in the world.
